The 142nd British Open returns to Scotland this year and there is much anticipation surrounding the newly crowned 2013 Masters Champion, Aussie Adam Scott. Following last year’s unfortunate final day at Royal Lytham & St Annes, he will be keen to get his hands on the most coveted trophy in golf, the famous Claret Jug.

There are six Australians playing in the British Open this year, including Perth golfer Stephen Dartnell, who is coached by past Nedlands Golf Club Masters Champion Lyndsay Stephen. We wish him all the best and hope to see his name on the leader board.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

A worthy quote from golfing legend Gary Player:

‘It’s a funny thing, the more I practice the luckier I get’

TIPS FROM VERNON

  • Measure your practice by quality, not by time.
  • Spend 70% of your practice on your short game. You’ll be on single figures before you know it!
  • Last but not least, practice what you’re NOT good at and enjoy trying to improve.
