Round 1, 9 June 2024
NGC v Wanneroo at NGC.
The foul weather (strong winds and sideways rain) levelled things up and took away our home ground advantage. The opposition could even putt on our greens.
Good wins to Jack Ellis and Gus Elliott, and determined fights to the last hole by James Pluske, John Samuels and losses to Aidan Cooper and Dave Southam we were unfortunately unsuccessful, we went down 2-4 overall.
Round 2, 16 June 2024
NGC V Cottesloe at Cottesloe saw us bounce back as we beat Cottesloe on its home course 3.5 to 2.5.
After Cottesloe squared its first match with Mark Mathews we had really good wins to Gus Elliot, Scott Van Heurck and John Samuels, which put us in a good position. Unfortunately, Dave Southam was unsuccessful.
The win was secured by a great putt from Mark Mathews on the 9th green, his last hole. Staring at a 15 foot putt which we thought would square the hole and win the match 1 up, it was actually a putt to halve the hole and square the match which was enough to secure our overall victory. A great effort.
NGC v WAGC at Wanneroo.
We were on the board early with James Pluske winning comfortably 7&5. Rehan Alikhan fought back from 3 down late to take the match to the last hole, but unfortunately lost 3&1 down.
John Samuels and Scott Van Heurck were both in box seats with a couple of holes to go but couldn’t close it out, both squaring. David Southam had a tough opponent and went down uncharacteristically 3&2 while Brayden Blackham sunk a solid putt on the last hole to record a 1 up win and secure an overall draw 3-3 for NGC. What could have been!
Round 4, 30 June 2024
NGC v Lake Karrinyup CC at Sun City, thankfully starting at 11.00am.
Karrinyup was the undefeated division leader and the focus was a determined effort to topple it.
Gus Elliot kept his unbeaten record intact winning 4&2 but has since left for Europe. Brayden Blackham returned to the team and played very well, lead throughout the day winning 4&3. James Pluske came in next with a 3&2 win after leading most of the day, perhaps down early, but coasted to the win in the end.
NGC was 3-0 up in the clubhouse and waiting for the last 3 games, just needing to square at least 1 to topple the leaders. It was not to be as our top three players all going down finishing on the 17th.
Round 5, 7 July 2024
NGC v Lakelands at The Vines
In what was a must for the team we had a good win beating Lakelands 5-1 up at The Vines in the pouring rain and rain-soaked greens.
Dave Southam and Aidan Cooper squared their games – Dave losing the 18th and Aidan winning the 18th. It was like that during the game where Dave was 3 up at the half way mark and Aidan down about the same. Good tussles. The rest of the boys won, John Samuels 1up, Brayden Blackham 3&2, Scott VH 4&3 and James Pluske had a good win 5&4.
So, we sit 3rd on the table behind LKCC 9 pts & Sun City on7 pts and NGC on 6pts with two rounds to go. We now play Sun City and The Vines in the next two weeks. Go team.

Round 1, 23 June 2024
NGC v Sea View at Lakelands.
The season opener was tense and with a total of only 5 matches to be played, including a bye, it was essential to kick the season off with a win.
Jack Ellis came in with a gutsy win 2&1 coming from behind midway through the round. Then three hefty losses put us in a vulnerable position before Tristan Geerlings and Anthony Joseph had big wins 5&3 and 7&6 respectively.
Three all with only Alister Miles left on the course with all other teams following which only built up the pressure on Alister and his opponent Tigh Van Leeuwin who is a very good golfer.
Alister appeared frustrated by a missed, relatively short putt, on the 16th hole but rallied over the last 2 holes to win 2 up and take the team to a hard fought 4&3 win.

NGC v Lakelands at Wanneroo GC
Playing against a strong Lakelands team NGC had a fierce tussle and achieved a meritorious 3.5 to 3.5 draw.
Alister Miles cocooned himself in a bubble and smashed his way to a 7&5 win while Brendan Jones, who is getting the hang of Pennant play, won stylishly 5&4.
Meanwhile Tristan Geerlings couldn’t hit a fairway, and yet found a way to conjure up a victory – 1 up, with amazing recovery shots and a cool demeanour.
Keedan Nelles had a topsy turvy day but fought tenaciously all day to finish square which was an extremely important result for the team.
This week Div 3 plays Wanneroo at home so we encourage all members to come out and support our team which is representing your Club with distinction.
