Stephen Parker on his 60th Birthday
06.08.63 – 13.02.24
It is with great sadness we advise members of the death of former CLUB CAPTAIN and member of the very famous Parker golfing family, Stephen “Trigger” Parker who died peacefully on Friday 13th February at the age of 60. Stephen‘s father was the late Dennis Parker, a Life Member of the club and his younger brother is Greg. We extend our sympathies to Greg and his wife Sabine on this sad occasion as we do to his cousins Philip and Gavin and their families.
Stephen joined the club on the 13th November 1978 and retired from competitive golf in 2014 on a handicap of 8.4 but maintained a non-playing membership.
GOLFING SNIPPETS
In 1984 at the age of 31 Stephen was appointed Club Captain in after the resignation of Kevin Macnish and was elected in his own right in 1985.
Stephen was a talented golfer and some of his career highlights were-;
State Junior team member – 1981, 1982 and 1983
State Senior Squad 1983
Australian Schoolboys Team 1980
Australian Schoolboys Champion 1980
Played “A” Grade pennants for many years
Club Foursomes Champion in 1989 with great friend Neil Goddard
It is probably fair to say that Stephen never realised his full potential but possessed natural talent which stood him in good stead. Practice was not his forte but nevertheless, he was a fiercely loyal club member and made a significant contribution to the club during the years he played pennants.
Stephen was a talented golfer and passionate club member who will be remembered for his services to the club both on and off the field.
Funeral details will follow when known.
