The annual Orphans of Burma Charity Golf Day for 2023 took place on Friday 24th March on a cloudy but warm morning with over 68 players taking part on our twelfth anniversary
The scores were very competitive and low , with eventual winners Steven and Patricia Noske scoring 67.50. This was an fantastic result which makes them the very first mixed couple to win the main event so quite an achievement.
The runners up were previous winners ( with different partners) Bruce Allbrook and Tony Hudson with a score of 68.50 on a count back.
In third place was Greg Polla and Wilfred Ong, also a previous winner came in with a same score of 68.50.
Finally a pair that are reasonably new to this event, Michael Du Pont and Ann Marie McNaughton, won the best mixed pair with a score of 69.50 so well done to them.
As you can see the course was playing tough with some rain being the key factor to keeping the scoring below that of last year
I would like to thank the members and the very generous sponsors that took part in this annual event, both old and new. Your support is greatly appreciated, without you the event could not occur. A big thankyou to the Nedlands Golf Club for holding the event.
A big thank you also to Sean and Zamry for the lovely morning tea and the meal at the end of the day. This is the first time we have provided a light meal at the end of the day and the feedback from everyone was very positive.
A special thank you to Mandy Sudlow Brown and Rhonda Moore who helped me on the day, and Rhonda for donating the raffle prizes which together with donations raised in excess of $500.
The Burmese Association of W.A. received $3340.00. This event is one of the major contributors to their cause so this will go a long way towards helping the orphans and the Association is very grateful and appreciative.
On a personal note I would like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone for their time and generosity, I could never run a day like this without your support.
