WOMEN’S PENNANTS

As advised last week the Division 3 team will play against Melville Glades in the final on Monday June 27 at Wanneroo commencing at 8.30am. The winner will be promoted to Division 2. Best of luck ladies.

The Division 6 team ended their season on a winning note defeating Lakelands 4.5/2.5. Well done and here’s to a better season in 2023.

METROPOLITAN PENNANTS – MEN – ROUND TWO

The second round of the 2022 Men’s Pennant season was played on Sunday with mixed results for the two Nedlands Teams.

DIVISION TWO

After an excellent win in round one, a confident team set off to Lakelands to do battle with Hartfield. After a promising start they were overpowered by the strong Hartfield contingent and went down 7-0.

Aidan Cooper had a chance at the 19^th hole to salvage a win for the team but was unable to convert and moved on to the 20^th and ultimately lost at the 21^st hole. Commiserations Aidan – nearly.

Not much more one can say except Hartfield were simply too strong on the day.

Next week the team travels to THE VINES to play ROCKINGHAM commencing at 12.20pm. Hopefully they can bounce back after last week against a club that has recruited heavily.

DIVISION FIVE

Wanneroo played host to the second round of Division 5 Pennants and after a close win in round one the team was looking for a follow up victory against The Vines.

Dave Southam, Damon Watkins and John Venner replaced the 3 unlucky losers from round one.

Dave and Damon had solid victories and they were joined by Rehan Alikhan who again showed his match play prowess winning 6/4. David Rees and Matt Dumble could not repeat their winning performances from last week and when John Venner lost his match, scores were locked together at 3 all – and just like round one it was left in the hands of John Samuels to see if he could again win his match to unlock the dead lock.

After a birdie at the penultimate hole John went one up going to the final hole where his opponent had a shot. John lost the hole to a par 5 (nett 4) and the match finished all square.– the final result was 3.5 all. Refer scores below.

So, after the second round the team sits second behind Royal Perth and with a home game next week against the winless Lake Karrinyup the team will look to consolidate its position.
