Perfect weather greeted the players for the North and South Group finals on Sunday for the culmination of the GolfWA tournament at the WA Golf Club and Rockingham.

Browne rallied from behind in the North Group women’s final against Martina Gericke (Joondalup) to secure her win.

Gericke won the first hole, before halving the second, but Browne then started to hit some beautiful shots, winning the next three holes to take the match 2&1.

On her way to the final while Brown defeated Rita Conway (Lakelands) two-up in their semi-final.

Her victory earned her the right to play the Lake Karrinyup championship course at the World Super 6 Perth pro-am, and the chance to rub shoulders with some of the best golfer’s in the world at the tri-sanctioned event

Unfortunately, Nedlands men’s representative Joe Arnez, exited at the sixth and ultimate hole of his quarter final.

The tournament is set to grab the attention of the golfing world as its new format – which culminates a six-hole sudden-death matchplay – is set to be put to the test and the performances of the club players was an initial endorsement.

The World Super 6 Perth begins next Thursday with 54 holes of traditional strokeplay. The field will be reduced to 24 golfers for the final round, when players will face off in six-hole matchplay shootouts before leaving one man standing to claim the title.

Joe Arnez and Caroyln Browne have won through their matchplay rounds to earn the right to represent Nedlands in the Club Super 6 Divisional Final to be played at Western Australian Golf Club on Sunday afternoon.
