This week’s men’s midweek competition was dedicated to, and sponsored by our Vietnam Veterans to coincide with the anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan.
Led by Bob Alexander (pictured below with Pro Vernon) and joined by fellow vets Dan McDaniel, Cedric Bell, Bruce Cullam, Greg Paddon and Gordon Holusa, the day got off to a flying start with a ‘tipple’ available to all starters with compliments of the diggers.
A minute’s silence was held prior to presentations and before Bob addressed the gathering emphasising the differences between this and other wars, and how proud he was to have fought for his country.
For the record, Joe Alexander won the event with 41 points on a countback from Gavin Furness but proclaimed that the real heroes of the day were the Vets mentioned above.
