The Annual Orphans of Burma Charity Golf Day for 2025 took place on Friday 21st March on a beautiful Autumn morning with 68 players taking part. What a great turn out!

The scores were competitive, with eventual winners being John Venna and Andrew Ogilvie scoring 59.5 which equals their first win 4 years ago. So Well Done to them.

Runners up were Tim Tan and Dave Baster who played this event for the very first time with a score of 63.75, members were happy to see David on the course again.

Third place was taken by the Thomson twins Brett and Campbell with a score of 65.75. The twins have been knocking on the door for this event for the past 3 years.

Finally, the best mixed pair for the day with a score of 63.75 went to Vanessa Stephen and Scott Van Heurck a great combination of skills.

Vanessa was very pleased with her win as her husband was busy playing in another charity event, so she teamed up with Scottie who has now managed to put his name down on the Best Pair and Mixed Pair Burmese Orphan Day Shields. A big thankyou also goes to Scott for donating the Golf bag prize back to the charity.

I would like to thank the members and sponsors that took part in this annual event both old and new, thanks also go to the members who were unable to play on the day and still donated their entry fees.

A big thankyou goes to the Nedlands golf club for holding the event. Thanks also to Gavin who assisted me with the running of the event over the past few years, Ben, Karen, Sean, the bar staff and Zamry, Brad and the ground staff who prepared the course for the day. Without the support of these people the event would not be able to occur, and I greatly appreciate their kindness and contribution to the day.

Finally, I would like to call out a very special thank you to Mandy Sudlow Brown and Marg Doyle whose assistance and support was exceptional both on the day and lead up to the event. The raffle prizes which looked magnificent and contained some awesome goodies were kindly donated by all the ladies of Nedlands Golf Club for the second year running which raised a significant sum.

The Burmese association of W.A. received $3275-00 and thank everyone that contributed, supported and played on the day for which they are very grateful and appreciative particularly during these hard times.
