Congratulations to Mal Skipworth, the 2024 recipient of the Meritorious Service Award. This is awarded to nominated members who have shown exemplary voluntary service to the club over a long standing period of time.
Mal has contributed to on-course activities as one of the original Thursday volunteers, starting with Stuart Munro one first task was maintenance of all the peppies pruning them with hand shears. Over many years Mal has helped in numerous tasks;
- maintaining and cleaning all the ball washers on course
- emptying all bins each day
- repairing all bunker rakes when necessary
- repairs the warmup nets
- early morning course marshalling to ensure players are members
You’ll often see him early morning or late evening in one of the last buggies on the course driving around attending to many jobs’ we members aren’t aware of.
