Australian Veterans Golfers Union – Mandurah –  2022

The Annual AVGU Championships was held in Sunny W.A. after an absence for two years due to Covid.

Each state takes a  turn to hold the event and this year over three hundred players taking part from golf clubs around Australia descended upon Mandurah.

Nedlands Golf Club, as usual, was well represented with twelve players hoping to apply their skills against some of the keen veterans from the rest of Australia.

Unusually,  the men representing Nedlands were well below par … but the ladies I must say flew the Nedlands flag way up high again.

Joan Brown was runners up in A grade with a score of 222 played over three rounds at Secret Harbour, Meadow Springs and Mandurah Country Club

Mandy Sudlow-Brown was runners up in B grade Stableford with a score of 104 just missing out by a point to the eventual winner.

Well done, and congratulations  to these two ‘young ladies’ as it is there first time entering the veteran competition and also to the rest of the fantastic ladies for their fine performances.

As for the gents…  there is always next year (sigh)  which is going to be held in Canberra 12-17th November at Gold Creek , Gungahlin Lakes and Queanbeyan Golf Courses.
