We are pleased to inform Members that our insurers have accepted liability for the storm damage to our bunkers and we can now proceed with the restoration work.
A contract has been let for the removal of contaminated bunker sand; replacement of the sand; and, bunker shaping, with the work to commence on Monday 16 August. The work is expected to take 4 weeks, running through to the 10 September.
Consequently, the Match Committee has chosen to re-schedule both the Men’s and Ladies’ Club Championships and some other major events until after this work is complete. The new dates are shown in the table below.
The proposed restoration work will see approximately 400 tonnes of sand moved out of the bunkers and replaced. This will require about 80 semi-trailer movements into and out of the golf club and approximately 300 small dumper truck trips across the course to move the sand. We will also have contractors and staff working in the bunkers with diggers during this time.
Our plan is to try and keep the golf course open whilst the work is being carried out, with contractors and course staff having priority:

If Members are playing social golf and encounter work being undertaken on a hole that is open, it is the Member’s responsibility to safely negotiate the work – including by picking up the ball and moving past the work in progress.

At other times and during some competitions we may play with a hole closed, resulting in 8 or 16 hole rounds. Shortened competition rounds will still be eligible for handicapping.
We look forward to getting the course back in top condition and your co-operation is essential for us to keep the course open during the restoration work.
