The past weekend one of the four major club events for the men’s golfing calendar took place, the Autumn Cup. This year the event was sponsored by Captain Joe Alexander and Course Director Ron Parkin. A big thank you to Joe and Ron for their continued generous support which has helped this 36 hole event attract a sizeable field in previous years and this year was no exception.
Over 70 players took part in the 36 hole Stableford competition which was played in great weather on a course that is in excellent condition currently. The exceptional pace of the greens tested the putting prowess of all players, but as usual good golf prevailed.
On Saturday, 40 points was the best score with Campbell Thomson edging out Gavin Furness (40 pts) on count back and other good scores included 39 points for Ken Douglas and Steven Noske. Well done to these players. The scoring on Sunday was equally as good with great scores being posted early in the morning by Hugo McChesney (41) and Matt Dumble (38) which was followed in the afternoon by scores of 41 by Sean Chia and Matt Craig and 40 points by Marty Morris.
However, very consistent golf by Steven Noske with 39 points to back up his first round of 39 points meant a combined score of 78 Stableford Points over 2 days made him the Autumn Cup Champion for 2019. This was enough to edge out new member Matt Dumble’s solid effort of 75 points across two days (37/38). Congratulations to both players.

A big thank you to all players who stayed behind in the bar after the game, there was a fantastic turn out and the atmosphere was superb as Steve rang the bell and members sung He’s a Jolly Good Fellow. Again, thank you to our sponsors this year Ron Parkin and Joe Alexander for making this club event possible.
