Four NGC members made the trip to Darwin for latest instalment of the Australian Vets Championships. Cliff Matson and Ron Parkin didn’t perform very well but Bruce Palmer had a creditable showing in B grade with a three round stroke nett score of 221 (76,73,72). However, we brought home a winner in Joe Alexander, who won the big one – Best Nett overall with 216 (72,68,76). Congratulations Joe!

Five members from NGC travelled to Canberra for the latest Australian Vets Golfers Championships held from 17th-22nd November. These were Joe Alexander, John Clarkson, Ron Parkin, Frank Watson and Neil Watson. Although a smaller contingent than in previous years, some success was achieved in that Neil Watson achieved third best gross in the B grade (54 hole total of 262)and John Clarkson had a top 10 finish in the C grade nett. Courses played were Gunghalin Lakes, Gold Creek and Yowani and water was the downfall of most of our players with no fewer than 15 balls finding a watery grave during the week. The only other victory from WA was Brian Graham from Chequers Golf Club who was Outright Nett Winner.
Next year’s Championships will be held in the Southwest of WA at Sanctuary Cove, Bunbury, Capel and Busselton golf courses from 9th-14th November.
