Nedlands Golf Club took out the Golf Managers Australia (GMA) Management Challenge on Friday at Cottesloe. The event comprised 21 clubs represented by their President, Captain, Professional and Manager in an aggregate stableford competition played from the back tees, exposing many to Cottesloe’s changes for the first time.
The Nedlands team, led by acting Captain Greg Parry (35 points), Professional Vernon Sexton-Finck (even par) and rounded out by President Stuart Munro and Manager Darrin Ramshaw, were able to accumulate 128 points which turned out to be enough to win.
Highlights of the round were Vernon’s holing of a bunker shot for birdie on the 420m par 4 new 12th and a difficult flop shot for birdie on the tough par 4 9th.
The President gratefully accepted the cup, shown left with Vernon, in front of a packed Cottesloe clubhouse before returning to Nedlands to celebrate at his successful senior pennant team’s dinner.
